Why Did Adobe Select MainConcept as a Partner?

MainConcept has served the video production industry for over a quarter of a century, and this year, we celebrate 20 years of partnership with Adobe—the game-changing innovator that has revolutionized digital experiences and democratized creativity. Adobe and MainConcept have partnered on a number of projects over the past two decades.

Adobe originally selected MainConcept to partner with them in 2001 based on engineering excellence and the superior ability of MainConcept’s broad codec format support to power various applications. What started as interest in MPEG-1/2 quickly grew to encompass more of the MainConcept codec library, including H.264 and AAC technology for integration into its Adobe Flash Player software.

Adobe chose the MainConcept HEVC SDK (Software Development Kit) to integrate as a core component of their Premiere Pro and After Effects products in 2015. While a number of products and factors were considered, MainConcept emerged the victor based on support of the world’s largest codec library, an expansive set of decoding profiles for improved CPU consumption, and the company’s reputation for quality engineering and stellar professional support.
