The MainConcept® VC-3 Encoder and Decoder SDKs for Avid DNx are software-only components that enable application developers to integrate with production tools like Avid Media Composer and Avid Interplay storage solutions or cameras. Avid DNx is based on SMPTE ST 2019-1:2026 + Amd 1:2023. Avid DNx supports 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit depth with 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:2:0 chroma sampling. The SDK supports wrapping and unwrapping DNx content in and from MXF containers.

Compliant with Avid production tools

The VC-3 Encoder and Decoder SDK components are fully compliant with the Avid production tools Media Composer and Interplay. The Encoder component exposes compatible profiles to guarantee native file exchange with Avid tools. Content created with them can be played back by the MainConcept VC-3 Decoder.

Up to 8K resolution support

Native DNx support allowing 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit depth with 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:2:0 chroma sampling, with resolutions up to 8K (7680 x 4320 pixels).

Besides VC-3 Elementary Stream support, the MainConcept SDK Packages provides MXF Multiplexer and Demultiplexer components to create and playback Avid DNx-compliant content at the container level.
