The Revival of 3D Movies

To enjoy content in 3D on the Apple Vision Pro, the streams need to be encoded in Multiview HEVC (MV-HEVC) which is an extension to the HEVC/H.265 standard (ISO/IEC 23008-2). The standard defines encoding of stereoscopic views of a scene within a single video stream to guarantee seamless playback on a device. That content is also backward compatible with the regular HEVC/H.265 base layer for 2D viewing.
