The newly released update for MainConcept Reference includes many optimizations and several new features to make video and audio codec conversion, aka as transcoding, more convenient. All codecs have been updated to make MainConcept Reference a must-have product for every user working with video and audio in different formats.
MainConcept Reference v1.6.0 and v1.6.1 - New Features at a glance:
User Interface:
- DirectShow importer now shows FOURCC of encoded video stream
- Allowing more frame resolutions for iPod HQ preset: 640x360 (16:9), 480x270 (16:9), 480x360 (4:3)
- Added BGR_16 as input raw format
- New version of DivX Codec included and added version for Mac OSX
- New licensing procedure for full license Plug-Ins (version 1.6.1)
Codecs:
- Added Linux as supported OS for MPEG-2, H.264, MPEG-4 Part 2, VC-1, DVCPRO 50/HD, JPEG2000
- DivX for Linux to follow soon
Known Issues for version 1.6.1:
- In some situations we noted a crash in MP3 decoder component of QuickTime. As a workaround users can import DivX AVI files by using the mpegdecode/mpegin importer. Please add *.avi to mpegdecode extensions.
- Currently WMV import does not work via QuickTime import module, although the same file can be played back with the Quicktime player on MacOSX.
- For certain videos on Linux, there can be problems with the import via GStreamer. We are working on the problem to provide a solution and/or workaround.
New Plug-In installation process:
Please note that with the release of MainConcept Reference 1.6.1, the product employs a new unlocking mechanism that turns the demo version of a specific codec (e.g. H.264/AVC, JPEG2000, VC-1 Pro etc.) within the base application into a full license one. Read the step-by-step update information for your full license codec Plug-In.
