The free demo version of MainConcept Reference 2.0 can be downloaded here. It is a kind of main application which includes the most important MainConcept codecs as a demo, so you can test the power and quality of the codecs. The demo version of MainConcept Reference is fully functional, though it adds a watermark to processed video (without harming your source material). Moreover, it has audio encoding limitation of 30 seconds. When you are interested in obtaining the full version of the codec, you have to purchase and unlock the appropriate plug-in module(s) for MainConcept Reference, such as MainConcept Reference H.264/AVC, MainConcept Reference MPEG-2, etc.

Before you install a new version of MainConcept Reference 2.0, you should uninstall the previous one by using the Control Panel. Afterwards, you can install the main application on your system as usual again.
Product Activation
MainConcept Reference is installed as demo version first. In the past you needed to enter a valid serial number for unlocking it. Now Reference 2.0 will come with a new user friendly protection system called CodeMeter. Along with Reference 2.0 demo application a “CodeMeter Runtime” will be installed. This is your new control center for all MainConcept Reference Licenses.
It offers several advantages in comparison to the old serial number activation:
- Activation with only a few clicks
- No serial number needed
- Network capability (optional)
- No hardware dongle needed
After you have purchased the desired full version of a codec, you will receive an e-mail from our online shop Element5 containing a link to activate the corresponding Codec Plug-In and its components. You need to have a working internet connection to unlock them. Simply copy the link into your internet browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) and follow the steps on the screen. After successful activation, you can enjoy working with the full license Codec Plug-In of your choice.
