MainConcept H.264 Encoder v2 Adds Support For Intel Dual Core Technology

Enhancements enable 25% faster video encoding

Press Release

Aachen, Germany and Beachwood, Ohio - January 13, 2006
MainConcept, a leading provider of codec technology and video applications, announces that its popular H.264 Encoder v2 supports Intel® Dual Core (DC) Technology for the new Intel® Pentium® D Processor and Intel® Pentium® Extreme Edition Processor. With the processing capabilities of up to four threads, Intel's Dual Core CPU architecture and MainConcept's optimizations on the Encoder side enable approximately 25 percent faster video encoding (based on internal testing).

"We are happy to support the latest Intel advances," said Markus Moenig, founder and CEO of MainConcept. "By introducing DC Technology in combination with Hyper-Threading Technology that results in four threads per processor, Intel has raised the bar once again. We are proud to offer software which takes advantage of these capabilities."

"The MainConcept H.264 Encoder is a prime example of how state-of-the-art software can take advantage of latest innovations like DC Technology," said Wolfgang Petersen, Director SSG Enabling in EMEA, "The latest encoder from MainConcept adds new levels of performance to users of digital video software."

The current version of MainConcept's standalone H.264 Encoder v2 already supports Dual Core and Hyper-Threading Technology. A free demo version is available for downloading at www.mainconcept.com. DC Technology is also supported in the latest version of the SDK available to MainConcept's H.264 licensees. Release dates will vary as licensees incorporate the new version into their products.
