Codec Packages
Rovi's MainConcept DV/DVCPRO Codec Packages offer a variety of options for DV, DVCPRO 25, DVCPRO 50 and DVCPRO HD. They include both encoder and decoder components. Additionally, you have the opportunity to purchase decoding only packages of these Codec Packages.
- DV/DVCPRO 25 Codec Package: Can be used to decode and encode DV (IEC-61834) and DVCPRO 25 (SMPTE 314M) frames. DVCPRO 25 delivers considerably higher picture quality than normal DV since it allows video data rates at 25 Mb/s. It supports all major YUV and RGB color spaces.
- DV/DVCPRO 25/50 Codec Package: Can be used to decode and encode DV 25 MBit (IEC-61834) and DVCPRO 25/50 Mbit (SMPTE 314M) frames. DVCPRO 50 delivers considerably higher picture quality since it allows video data rates at 50Mb/s. It works together with all major YUV and RGB color spaces. The Codec Package includes everything for decoding and encoding DV, DVCPRO 25 and DVCPRO 50 frames.
- DVCPRO HD Codec Package: Can be used to decode and encode consumer DV 25 MBit (IEC-61834), DVCPRO 25/50 Mbit (SMPTE 314M), and DVCPRO HD in 720 50/60p and 1080 50/60i (SMPTE 370M). All major YUV and RGB color spaces are supported. DVCPRO HD delivers considerably higher picture quality since it allows video data rates at 100Mb/s and also supports the YUV 4:2:2 color space. The Codec Package includes everything for decoding and encoding DV, DVCPRO 25/50 and DVCPRO 100 frames.
Availability:
For Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, the codec package consists of a Low Level API (in the C programming language). Under Windows, it additionally includes DirectShow filters for decoding and encoding DV, DVCPRO 25, DVCPRO 50 and/or DVCPRO 100 frames. The decoder filter can be used by any DirectShow® application (e.g. Windows® Media Player).
The Codec Package is available as 32-bit as well as 64-bit version for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
