MainConcept MPEG-2 codec plug-in is a powerful tool for converting video data into MPEG-1/2 for the common formats and devices. It offers professional features such as watch folder and batch list encoding. Additionally, it includes a powerful capture engine that allows you to capture from camcorders, webcams, etc. in their native or another format if available.

The user can compress the files according to his wishes. It supports almost all features of the approved MPEG standard. The software offers simple as well as a professional interfaces. The latter enables experts to perfect both their video and audio streams by adjusting a great number of settings and parameters, including the bitrate, in order to obtain high-quality results for professional production environments.

The default settings of the software already offer the novice excellent results. It also includes many ready-to-use presets for common production environments, such as 720p, 1080i, ATSC etc. As audio formats MPEG and LPCM are included.

Reference MPEG-2 also supports Dolby Digital Professional or Dolby Digital Plus Professional. These transcoding plug-ins must be obtained separately, but they allow you to add high-quality Dolby 5.1 surround sound to your multimedia productions.

The full license codec Plug-In provides unrestricted MPEG-2 support. When purchasing the full license Plug-In, you will receive a serial number to unlock the appropriate codec in the free MainConcept Reference 2 base application. The base application must be installed on your system.
