MainConcept Dolby Digital Professional codec plug-in is a powerful codec plug-in for adding this audio format to some of the Reference 2 video codec plug-Ins. Dolby Digital Professional delivers unrivaled audio in home theater systems for an exciting, enveloping surround sound experience.
Dolby Digital is the worldwide standard in film, broadcast, home entertainment, PC, games, and DVDs. The preferred multichannel audio standard for direct broadcast direct to home satellite and digital cable systems. Nearly 60 million digital cable and satellite set-top boxes are currently in use worldwide supported by over 30 million audio/video receivers equipped with 5.1-channel Dolby Digital decoding.
Reference 2 Dolby Digital Professional codec Plug-in can only be used in the following video codec Plug-Ins:
Dolby's surround sound technology that delivers high-quality digital audio for up to 5.1 discrete channels (L/C/R/LS/RS/ LFE). It offers the same features base than the Dolby Digital Consumer SDK, but offers a wider range of parameters for optimizing your AC-3 streams, such as more coding modes and a wider range of supported bitrates. The AC-3 standard is based on the ATSC A52 Revision B specification.
Virtually every DVD-Video player sold today offers a two-channel mixdown of the Dolby Digital 5.1 movie soundtrack as well as a digital output for connection to a 5.1-channel audio/video receiver.
Base Application required
The full license codec Plug-In provides unrestricted Dolby Digital Pro support. When purchasing the full license Plug-In, you will receive a serial number to unlock the appropriate codec in the free MainConcept Reference 2 base application. The base application must be installed on your system.
Additionally, you need to install the full version of one or more of the following Codec Plug-Ins: Reference MPEG-2, VC-1 Pro, H.264/AVC Pro and/or H.264/AVC Broadcast.

To use MainConcept Reference 2, you'll need to make sure that your computer system meets at least these minimum requirements:
