MainConcept Dolby Digital Plus Pro is a powerful codec plug-in for adding this audio format to some of the Reference 2 video codec Plug-Ins. This Dolby surround sound technology offers high-quality digital audio for up to 5.1 discrete channels.

Dolby Digital Plus Pro is the sound for DVD’s successor; Blu-ray Disc. Moreover, it supports the new interactive formats such as BD-Live, where additional content is streamed to the viewer over the Internet, such as trailers, background comments, interactive games or other exclusive features. It offers a significant better quality in comparison to a similar bitrate when using other Dolby Digital technologies.

The MainConcept Dolby Digital Plus Pro Codec Plug-in for Reference 2 can only be used in the following video codec Plug-Ins:

• Reference MPEG-2
• Reference H.264/AVC Pro
• Reference H.264/AVC Broadcast
• Reference VC-1 Pro

Dolby Digital Plus Pro is compatible with the tens of millions of home entertainment systems equipped with Dolby Digital. It was recently selected by the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) as the standard for future broadcast applications and was named as an option by the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) Project for satellite and cable TV.

Although Dolby Digital Plus Pro is still a relatively new standard, the underlying base is the ATSC A52 Revision B specification. It maintains high quality at more efficient broadcast bit rates (200 kbps for 5.1-channel audio).

The full license codec Plug-In provides unrestricted Dolby Digital Plus Pro support. When purchasing the full license Plug-In, you will receive a serial number to unlock the appropriate codec in the free MainConcept Reference 2 base application. The base application must be installed on your system.

Additionally, you need to install the full version of one or more of the following Codec Plug-Ins: Reference MPEG-2, VC-1 Pro, H.264/AVC Pro and/or H2.64/AVC Broadcast.
