MainConcept® Announces Unique Reference™ 3D Transcoding Application Exclusively for 3D Blu-ray™ Disc Creation

New Windows®-based transcoding application is one of the world’s first to quickly and affordably encode stunning 3D video for distribution on Blu-ray™ Disc

Aachen, Germany – August 31, 2010 – MainConcept GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DivX, Inc. (NASDAQ: DIVX) and one of the world’s premier provider of video and audio codecs and software development kits (SDKs) to the consumer, broadcast and professional markets, today announced the availability of a special pre-release version of its much anticipated Reference 3D transcoding application encoding solution for Windows. This new 3D transcoding application will encode video into stereoscopic and multi-view 3D video streams for 3D Blu-ray Disc format as an extension of the H.264 encoding process.

3D has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity with a new wave of 3D major motion pictures and next generation televisions and Blu-ray Disc players capable of playing and displaying compelling 3D content. The Reference 3D transcoding application is a specially designed version of MainConcept’s Reference transcoder application dedicated exclusively to MVC/Blu-ray 3D creation which enables users to encode content into MVC/Blu-ray 3D compliant streams that can be played back by any Blu-ray player and TV supporting 3D content for an unprecedented 3D viewing experience. The Reference 3D transcoding application fills a unique need for those video professionals who require a simple yet highly format compliant stand-alone 3D Blu-ray Disc encoding solution.

The MainConcept Reference 3D transcoding application for Windows 7 (32/64-bit), Windows Vista® (32/64-bit), and Windows XP® carries an MSRP of $3,900.00. However, it is currently available for special pre-release introductory price of $3,200.00, a $700 savings. Those customers who purchase the pre-release version will also get the full released version at no additional cost and will be automatically notified when the final release is available.
