MainConcept® Releases New Version 2.1 of its Professional Transcoder Application
Now Available for Both Windows® and Macintosh® Platforms with HTML5 Support and Export Pre-sets for the Apple iPad®
Aachen, Germany – August 31, 2010 – MainConcept GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DivX, Inc. (NASDAQ: DIVX) and one of the world’s premier providers of video and audio codecs and software development kits (SDKs) to the consumer, broadcast and professional markets, today released new version Reference 2.1™ of its professional transcoding application for Windows and Macintosh platforms. The companion Reference SDK ver. 2.1 is also available.
As a result of numerous customer requests for Macintosh support, Reference 2.1 is optimized for the MacOS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) platform. Also new is support for HTML5, a web publishing format that incorporates features like video playback that were previously only possible with third-party browser plug-ins. HTML5 is an optimal solution for environments not supporting formats such as Flash or Silverlight. Reference 2.1 also includes export pre-sets for Apple’s immensely popular iPad tablet device, enabling the export of video that is fully optimized for the over 3 million iPads already in the market.
“Our applications are often referred to as the ‘gold standard’ in video format transcoding, delivering that all-important mix of new technology and format support with the extremely high level of playback compatibility that video professionals rely on every single day,” said Muzaffer Beygirci, Managing Director of MainConcept GmbH. “MainConcept has continued this leadership with Reference 2.1, which now supports the Macintosh platform, HTML5, and export for Apple’s iPad.”
MainConcept’s Reference 2.1 offers compelling applications for almost all professional market segments, including content creation, video streaming, IPTV, defense, security, and medical imaging. The MainConcept Reference 2.1 application supports most popular formats for transcoding, including MPEG-1/2, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4 Part 2, VC-1, JPEG2000, DVCPRO HD, Dolby Digital Professional, and Dolby Digital Plus Pro with fool-proof export pre-sets for many popular devices such as the iPod, iPad, Blu-ray Disc, and many others. The Reference application offers a unique customer experience as the application itself is available for free download with all supported codecs included in a “demo mode” which watermarks the video output. This allows a codec to be fully evaluated before purchase, thereby saving money by only purchasing codecs that are really needed. Codecs are purchased in the MainConcept online shop and the serial number issued will unlock the codec for unlimited use.
The MainConcept Reference 2.1 professional transcoding application is currently available from the MainConcept website. To learn more or download the Reference 2.1 application for no-cost evaluation, please visit www.mainconcept.com.
